  • It is important to note that all essential oils must be diluted in vegetable oil (such as coconut or olive oil) or alcohol before being applied to the skin. Except for lavender, tea tree and diluted ones (neroli, jasmine and rose), which can be used directly on the skin.

Citrus oils, even diluted, are photosensitive, with the exception of bergamot oil. This means that it is not advisable to expose yourself to the sun for up to 6 hours after application, in order to avoid blemishes on the skin.

For pregnant women and babies, the permitted and recommended oils are chamomile, eucalyptus, lavender and citrus.

It is important to note that these compounds are highly concentrated and can damage the mucous membranes of internal organs (especially the stomach and intestines), even when diluted. Therefore, ingesting essential oils is completely inadvisable.

  • There are several methods of applying aromatherapy that can adapt to your needs and preferences. Some examples include:

Aromatic necklaces: These are accessories that allow you to carry the benefits of essential oils with you. Just put a few drops on your necklaces and enjoy the aroma throughout the day.

Environmental diffusion:Use a candle or electric diffuser to disperse essential oils into the environment. This allows you to breathe in the therapeutic aromas and enjoy their benefits.

Compresses: It is possible to combine essential oils with clay and apply it as a compress to specific areas of the body. This technique is especially useful for topical treatments and can be very relaxing.

Massage oil:To get the benefits of aromatherapy during a massage, you can dilute essential oils in vegetable oils such as coconut or sweet almond oil. The recommended average dilution is 40 to 60 drops of essential oil for every 100 ml of vegetable oil.

It is important to remember that, before using any application method, it is essential to conduct research into the properties and precautions of the specific essential oils you intend to use.
